NCAA Tournament Field of 64 First Round Scores
Yesterday’s NCAA tournament games were scintillating for most and heart-breaking for some. The Giant slayers were out and in full effect, yesterday as the Peacocks of Saint Peter’s University strutted their basketball stuff in taking down the No. 2 seed Kentucky Wildcats 85-79 in their East Region matchup. Not only did the Peacocks shatter the dreams of Kentucky fans far and wide—their upset win also busted major brackets. The upsets didn’t end with the Wildcat’s defeat though. The Iowa Hawkeyes who were flying high after winning the Big 10 tournament a few days earlier got ensnared in the Richmond Spiders’ webby strategy to slow the game down rather than allow the Hawkeyes to spread their wings and fly up and down the court at the speed and pace that they played all season long leading to a 67-63 upset loss of the No. 5 seed Hawkeyes. In the other game No. 5 seed Connecticut was upset by New Mexico State 70-63 and No. 11 Michigan Wolverines defeated No.6 seed Colorado State 75-63.
